We were reviewing a case file and it reminded me of a recurring theme we hear so often from clients who become caught up in the justice system. This well-respected professional didn't start off by stealing large amounts of money. He started because he had a tight month and borrowed from an escrow account, “just this once”.

The yetzer hara doesn't ask you to jump off a cliff. It asks you to step over a tiny line. The Gemara maps this out perfectly. “Today it tells you to do this, and tomorrow it tells you to do that.”

Every small compromise in integrity adds up. Fudging an expense report or underreporting a cash sale builds an incremental path that can lead to places one never imagined. The question isn't just what you're doing today; it's where this path will lead you tomorrow.

Nugget: Small things become big things. Flex your ethical muscles on the very next small financial decision you make. Take pride in resisting that first, small step.

I wish you a week of clarity, integrity and peace of mind.

Warmly,

Rabbi Levi Landa
